VMan/Ford Models Is Seeking the Next "It" Boy

Remember how I said Patrick Dempsey was going to be the new face of Versace? Yes, well, he's replacing Gabriel Aubry — one of my favorite male models. I won't cry for Gabriel, since he's doing that whole Calvin Klein thing. Anyway, I was going to write a post about male models, but then I forgot about it ... that is, until I watched the latest new eppy of House. Dr. House was watching one of his favorite soap operas, and I noticed that the male actor on the soap was none other than my dear, dear Jason Lewis. He'll be guesting on House next week.

So, I decided to do a post on my favorite male models, like Tyson Beckford, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Mark Vanderloo (my absolute fave of all time). But then I stumbled across a nice little post about a contest for aspiring male models, and as a service to all the aspiring male models who may stumble across this post, I'm going to also post about it.

Ford kicks off the VMan/Ford Models nationwide model search with their first search at Union Square’s Diesel store Wednesday and Thursday April 30, May 1st. They are looking for men between the ages of 16-25 years old, between 5’11” and 6’3”, and all ethnicities are invited to try out. The winner will be shooting with Hedi Slimane, for the cover of VMan.

From now until May 17th, contestants should upload their images to vman.com. Good luck, boys!

Patrick Dempsey: Made of Honor

I've been saying this for years -- ever since Gray's Anatomy came out,
really. The thing is ... all you Janey (and Johnny) Come Latelys to
the PD train can jump off just about now.

Sure, you can go see his new movie -- you know, that blatant remake of
that Julia Roberts movie, My Best Friend's Wedding -- but don't fawn
all over him and how beautiful he is.

Where were you when he was a weed of a man in Can't Buy Me Love? I
can tell you where I was. I was supporting him with all the allowance
money I could muster. Of course, those were the days you could see a
movie twice without having to take out a second mortgage.

So there it is. My devotion to him was before yours, and it will
probably last longer than your infatuation right now. Does that make
me a little bit of a better human being than you? Maybe just a smidge.

P.S. I wonder if he's going to have a gay best friend who steals the
show like in the Julia Roberts film. And why aren't the gay best
friends ever lesbians? I digress ... I do see Kareem Hardison in one
commercial, so maybe it's the old standby Black best friend in this
movie. Ooooo, what if he's the Black, gay best friend! Progress!
Alas, probably not.

P.P.S. Found this photo to go with this post. Apparently, Patrick is
going to be the new face of Versace. He's replacing my Gabriel Aubry.
Hmmmm, don't know how I feel about that. Will discuss soon.
